Knispel Farms - How It All Began
Our current farm, established in Jones, Oklahoma, in 2013, is a testament to our family's deep-rooted history in farming and ranching. What began as a humble venture with just six chickens has blossomed into a diverse agricultural operation. Often humorously dubbed "the gateway drug to farming," our initial poultry venture paved the way for the addition of turkeys, bees, rabbits, goats, cows, and pigs. We are committed to sustainability, focusing on producing as much of our food as possible. Alongside our livestock, we've cultivated gardens and planted fruit trees, ensuring that we can feed our family and share with others. Whether we are raising meat chickens, pork, or beef, our goal remains clear: to nurture our food in the most natural way possible, fostering both health and sustainability for generations to come.
At our farm, we thrive on the joy of sharing our experiences with friends and family. There's something truly special about inviting others to visit and witness the beauty of farm life firsthand. One of our greatest pleasures is having our grandchildren by our side as we explore the fields, tend to the animals, and savor the simple joys of nature. Their laughter fills the air as they discover the wonders of the outdoors, and we cherish the memories we create together. We believe that sharing these experiences not only strengthens our family bonds but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the land and the hard work that goes into farming. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to enjoy the farm and create lasting memories with us.

Our journey into farming began with raising chickens, driven by our desire for fresh eggs. This initial step sparked a deeper interest in understanding how and where our food is produced. As we expanded our farming practices, we started raising chickens for meat, as well as beef and pork. In 2018, we introduced goats into our operation, and by 2023, we began raising kiko crosses for meat. As our goals evolved, we shifted our focus from pet-quality Nigerian dwarf goats to breeding ADGA/NDGA registered goats. Our commitment is to enhance the quality of our herd by continuously improving conformation, milk quality, and productivity. This journey reflects our dedication to sustainable farming and a strong connection to the food we consume.
One of the things we have come to understand since embarking on this journey is that the work is never done. There is always another project - fence repair, garden spaces, building repair. If you would like to see the latest projects head to our Improvements page.
